Centro de Criatividade Digital (Digital Creativity Center)
The Centro de Criatividade Digital (Digital Creativity Center), acknowledged as one of the anchor projects from the Creative Industry Cluster in Northern Portugal, is a center of competence and creative excellence with an infrastructure equipped with cutting edge technology in the areas of Digital and Interactive Arts, Computer Music, Sound Design, Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, Computer Animation. The Center is located in School of Arts (Escola das Artes da Católica Porto), and is supported by the Science and Technology Foundation Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
The CCD was approved by FCT for inclusion in the “Roteiro Nacional de Infraestruturas de Investigação de Interesse Estratégico para 2014-2020”
Motion Capture Lab
60 m2 studio ready for human movement capture, using a Motion Capture Vicon system; 10 Vicon T40S-NR18, 4 megapixel cameras; full body suits and accessories for MOCAP capture; 2 workstations Dell T7500; 2 High Speed video cameras, 12GigE Gigabit Ethernet with 210 FPS framerate; freight lift (25 m3) with direct access to the park outside the building of the School of Arts.
Interactive Art Lab
50 m2 studio acoustically conditioned; Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano Robotic Performace System - Notomoton Percussion; Reactable Live and Reactable Media bench Systems; Various sensors and actuators for Interactive Digital Performance.
Surround Sound Mixing Studio
50 m2 studio acoustically conditioned; ICON 64 Fader D-Control ES Bundle system; Protools HD with 16 pre-amplified imput; 7.1 Blue Sky pre-amplified sound monitors with Sky System One 5.1 + 2 monitors SAT 12; Hardware Dolby Surround (DP570 - Multichannel Audio Tool, DP564 - Multichannel Audio Decoder, DP570 - Multichannel Dolby Digital Enc.); sound synthesis Software, including Waves Diamond, Native Instruments Komplete 8 Ultimate and Viena Symphony Orquestra.
TV, Cinema and Chroma-Keying Studio
This 50m2 Video Recording studio includes a Chroma-Keying wall, a camera crane, and a high ceiling, where a lighting grid is installed. This studio is equipped with several lighting systems, including a recent state-of-the-art DEDOLIGHT led lighting system for motion picture, television, still photography, architectural lighting and fine art display. It also includes a 10m2 analogic TV regie (which at some point should be upgrade to a digital solution, with capacity for live webTV productions).
Sound and Video Production Cells
10 sound and video production cells (~10m2 each), which include audio and video computer workstations installed with industry standard software (Apple Final Cut X, AVID ProTools 10, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, etc.), where sound and video editing and postproduction projects can be developed. Most cells include a small sound recording booth for simple tasks as voice overs, narration recording, etc.
3D Computer Modeling and Animation Lab
3D Computer Modeling and Animation Lab, equipped with 10 high-performance workstations, inlcuding Wacom Cintiq drawing tablets, and installed with industry standard and state-of-the-art software (e.g. AUTODESK Maya, Smoke, V-Ray, Nuke; Unity 4, Blender).
Digital Photography Lab
Small Digital Photograpy Lab, equipped with a large format photo-quality plotter, 2 high-performance workstations with calibrated 21’ ands 27’ LCD screens, and industry standard software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, etc.). The studio includes 5 CANON EOS6D cameras (with assorted lenses).
Multi-purpose Auditorium for Cinema, Music, Sound Performances and General Events
Privileged access to a multi-purpose auditorium (which makes part of the UCP), with a Seating Capacity for 470 people, 15X13 m2 Stage (15X7 m2 with the curtains up), 8X5 m Projection Screen, HD Video Projector with 6000 AnsiLumens - SONY VPL-FW300L, Sound Amplifying System with 6 sources and D&B Subwoofers – P1200 A, 18,000 w Lighting Capacity, and a TV Régie Digital Recording (TV Studio) with 4 video sources (HDV) and 24 Audio routes (24Bits, 48KHz).
Outdoor video production
Video recording and mixing Sony Anycast Station AWS-G500HD portable table; two robotic cameras Panasonic - AW-HE100E; Sony F3 camera; three Sony EX1 cameras; Barco FLM HD14 (14.000 ANSI Lumen) projector.

Conservation and Restoration Workshops
6 workshops specially prepared and equipped to meet the specific needs of conservation and restoration interventions in organic and inorganic materials, including the installation of dust extraction and toxic gases, solvents and chemical cabinets fume systems. Among the many interventions to support conservation and restoration equipment, we can highlight the presence of the Workshops binocular microscope and low-pressure table.
Devoted to the study of the constituent materials of the artworks and pathologies associated with them. The laboratory is equipped with an optical transmission microscope Meiji MT, an optical microscope (reflection and transmission) Olympus BX41 with an attached digital camera JENOPTIK ProgRes C5, a digital microscope Dino-Lite Pro2 AM4000 a x-ray fluorescence spectrometer (X-ray tube with silver anode; detector Si-PIN Amptek; multichannel system of Amptek Pocket MCA), a polishing PHOENIX BETA and several binocular loupes.
Room with walls protected against radiation, and an YXLON x-ray tube. This room is-prepared to perform radiographs of artworks, mainly in painting and sculpture.
X-ray revelation room
In this room, with a radiographic film processor, can developed film (sheet or roll) with radiographic images of artwork.
Area of reserve
Room prepared for the brief stay of the pieces before transitioning to its Conservation Workshop, where will be intervened. This includes pieces packaging area.
Treatment of infestations area
A room, of 3.5 x 5 meters, with a thermolacquered aluminum chamber, melamine coated plate panels, rock wool and double glass, with an exhaust system provided by ventilator for extracting toxic gases.
A 4.3 x 2.75 meters room, with an exhaust system, by ventilator, for extraction of toxic gases.
High ceiling studio, with windowless walls in cyclorama and the presence of photographic backgrounds, intermittent or continuous light system, digital cameras, digital infrared camera, infrared reflectography camera (Vidicon tube), Wood lamps for UV photography and UV fluorescence, diffuser panel for observation/documentation of radiographies.
